WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior
Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.) reached 100 career hits in the Dean College baseball team's doubleheader with the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Friday afternoon. Dean fell in both games to USJ (Conn.) by final scores of 11-0 and 13-8, respectively. With the pair of losses, the Bulldogs dropped to 11-7 (3-5 GNAC), while the Blue Jays moved to 15-8 (6-2 GNAC).
Notables:
-With a home run in game two, senior
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) became the program's all-time leader in home runs. He has nine in four seasons with the Bulldogs.

How it Happened
-After a scoreless opening inning, USJ broke the game open in the second with seven runs, highlighted by a grand slam from senior Dom Scalia. This gave the Blue Jays a commanding 7-0 advantage.
-Dean looked to respond in the middle innings and recorded its first hit in the fifth, as
Matthew Dutton (Dublin, Ireland) singled to center.
-
Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.) added a hit for the Bulldogs later in the game, accounting for Dean's second base knock of the afternoon.
-The Blue Jays added two runs in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth to extend the lead to 11–0.
-Dean's pitching settled in after the early inning, with the bullpen combining to limit further damage over the final five frames.
Scott Joseph (Fairhaven, Mass.) looked sharp in three innings of work, allowing just two earned runs on four hits and four strikeouts.
-The Bulldogs were unable to generate a scoring push, giving USJ game one in seven innings by the 11-0 score.

How it Happened
-USJ continued their offensive ways to open game two, scoring two runs in the first inning. Both Jack Kane and Dom Scalia scored after reaching on a hit and walk, respectively.
-The Blue Jays added to their lead in the second with another pair of runs. JJ Fox doubled for an RBI, followed by another run due to an error. By the end of the top half, it was 4-0 in favor of USJ.
-However, Dean retaliated in a massive way. They posted six runs over the next two innings, including the 100
th career hit for Giambra. The senior laced a double into center field, bringing in three RBIs. Both
Gavin Goss (Glenwood Landing, N.Y.) and
Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.) also recorded extra-base hits.
-At the end of the third, Dean led USJ by a score of 6-4.
-The Blue Jays got one back in the fourth with a Jack Kane solo home run. The shortstop came in clutch again during the following inning, tying the game with an RBI triple. He quickly scored on a wild pitch, contributing to all three runs that put USJ back in front (7-6).
-USJ scored two more runs in the 6
th inning off RBIs, making it 9-6.
-Dean cut into the lead during the 7
th inning. Dutton flew out on a sacrifice, allowing Paschetto to tag-up and cross the plate.
-The Blue Jays once again broke it open in the eighth with a trio of runs. Kane struck again, this time putting a ball in-play to allow the run to score. They scored their final run of the game in the ninth with a Tyler Carlstrom single.
-Dean attempted a comeback in the bottom of the ninth. Paschetto began the rally with a solo blast, officially giving him the program's all-time home run record. Goss and Favata also recorded hits, putting two runners on. However, a groundout and strikeout ended the rally and gave USJ the 13-8 final win.
