FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College baseball team was defeated in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader by Mitchell College on Sunday afternoon. The team fell in game one by a score of 14-8 and game two by a score of 13-1. With the pair of losses, Dean drops to 10-5 on the year (2-3 GNAC), while the Mariners improved to 14-6 (7-1 GNAC).
GAME ONE: Mitchell College 14, Dean College 8

-Mitchell got on the board first with a single from Chas Terni Jr., which led to Ryan Dennis scoring.
-Dean responded right back with
Gavin Goss (Glenwood Landing, N.Y.) single, leading to
Kyler Lorenz (East Providence, R.I) scoring.
-By the 3
rd, the Bulldogs took the lead by an error on the pitcher, Patrick Mitchell, leading to Goss to score.
-The Mariners became dominant in the 4
th by putting up 10 runs. The Mariners had 3 players hit home runs, 2 of them being solo home runs.
-By the bottom of the 4
th,
Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.) hit a single.
Gavin Goss continued with another single as well.
Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.) loaded the bases with a walk.

Matthew Dutton (Dublin, Ireland) cleared the bases with his first career grand slam, cutting the Mariner lead to four runs. It was now 12-8 going into the fifth.
-Mitchell scored two more runs during the 5
th and 7
th innings, making it 14-8. After shut down pitching from Ethan Chavez and Jacob Quiles, Mitchell took the game by a final score of 14-8.

-Mitchell got on the board first with a hit from Angel Rodriguez Cruz, which led to Michael Ficocelli scoring.
-Dean quickly responded in the 3
rd inning with an RBI single from Goss, which led to
Kyler Lorenz (East Providence, R.I.) scoring. This made the contest 2-1 going into the fourth.
-Over the course of the next four innings, Mitchell scored 11 unanswered runs. This also included 10 total hits off Dean pitching.
-Mitchell's scoring was highlighted by a solo home run from Jayden Sgro in the sixth, marking his second of the year.
-Finally, for the Mariners, Johnny Brucato hit a single, leading to Nicholas Bracale and Jayden Sgro scoring. Mitchell shut down the Bulldogs in the bottom half to win the ballgame by a final score of 13-1.
