FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College baseball team impressed in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener on Friday afternoon, taking down Lasell University in both games of the double-header, 9-4 and 10-6. With the pair of wins, the Bulldogs improve to 10-2 (2-0 GNAC) on the year, while the Lasers drop to 6-5 (0-2 GNAC)
GAME ONE: Dean College 9, Lasell University 4

-Dean got on the board first at the bottom of the second inning.
Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.) delivered an RBI single and later came around to score on a Lasell error, giving the Bulldogs an early 2–0 lead.
-Lasell responded in the middle innings, eventually taking a 3–2 lead after a solo home run in the fifth inning by Jonah Nielson.
-The Bulldogs stayed within striking distance and began to build momentum heading into the late innings. Critchley continued to plow through the Laser lineup, allowing the defense to make routine plays.
-After another run by Lasell in the fifth, Dean erupted in the sixth inning, putting together a decisive seven-run frame to take full control of the game.
-The rally started with a
Gavin Goss (Glenwood Landing, N.Y.) single and a
Kyler Lorenz (East Providence, R.I.) double. This setup a sacrifice flyout from
Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.) to tie the game at 3–3.
-Dean continued to apply pressure, taking the lead on a wild pitch. Shortly after, Giambra added a sacrifice fly to make it 5–3.
-
Luke Fahey (Glastonbury, Conn.) followed with an RBI double, and
Matthew Dutton (Dublin, Ireland) added another run-scoring double as the Bulldogs kept the line moving.
-Goss capped the inning with a two-run single, completing the seven-run outburst and giving Dean a commanding 9–3 advantage.
-Lasell added a run in the seventh inning, but Critchley and the Dean defense closed out the game to secure the 9–4 victory.
GAME TWO: Dean College 10, Lasell University 6

-Dean wasted no time getting started in the first inning. Giambra helped spark the offense and came around to score, giving the Bulldogs an early 1–0 lead.
-The Bulldogs continued to apply pressure in the early innings, with Goss and Lorenz reaching base and forcing Lasell's defense to stay active.
-Lasell had the brief 2-1 lead in the top of the second. Braelin Silva launched an RBI double from starting pitcher
Nick Swain (South Portland, Maine). An error by Dutton at first base eventually caused another run to score, giving the Lasers the lead.
-The Lasers answered again in the fourth and fifth innings. Declan Silva highlighted the offense with a solo home run, giving Lasell the advantage 4-3.
-Dean turned the tide in the bottom half of the fifth. Dutton reached base on a fielder's choice, eventually prompting Giambra to score. Then, with a full count, Favata forced a walk. This brought in Dutton from third to give the Bulldogs the lead once again, 5-4.
-Lasell tied the game in the sixth, but it was quickly negated by another score from Dean. Fahey started a pickle down the second base line, allowing
Case LaChance (Latham, N.Y.) to sneak by and score.
-The Bulldogs sealed their winning fate over the next two innings. Curran came into pitch in relief, slamming the door on Lasell's attack. He finished the afternoon with five strikeouts and just two earned runs.
-Goss and Lorenz continued to pave the way offensively, ringing in more runs in the seventh and eighth.
Nick Amendolara (Bayville, N.Y.) also secured an RBI single, making it 10-5 going into the final frame.
-
Domenic Brazeau (Warwick, R.I.) closed out the game for Dean, allowing just one run in the top half. Dean closed out the double-header with strong defense, taking home the 10-6 victory.
