FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College men's volleyball team was defeated in both their matches on Saturday afternoon at Curry College. They were defeated by SUNY Polytechnic Institute by a score of 3-1 and Curry College by a final score of 3-0. With the pair of losses, the Bulldogs dropped to 5-13 on the year.
MATCH ONE: SUNY Poly 3, Dean College 1
-SUNY Poly jumped out strong in the opening set, building an early lead behind balanced attacking from Vincenzo Geloso and Jordan Prusky, forcing Dean to play catch-up before closing the frame 25–17.
-Dean stormed back in the second set with a much-improved offense.
Arthur Felicio (Saugus, Brazil) and
Jerney Price (San Antonio, Texas) paced the Bulldogs with aggressive hitting. Dean also dominated on serve and transition to take the second set 25–16 and even the match at 1–1.
-In the third set, SUNY Poly regained momentum. The Wildcats mixed strong serving and timely kills from Geloso and Prusky, while Dean fought hard behind
Noah Allan (Windham, N.H.). However, Poly edged ahead for a 25–19 set win.
-The fourth set was tightly contested, featuring multiple lead changes. Dean continued to battle, with Felicio and Price again leading the offense and
Mason Rua (São Pedro do Sul, Portugal) piling up digs in the back row.
-SUNY Poly answered with clutch kills late to clinch the set 25–23 and the match.
MATCH TWO: Curry College 3, Dean College 0
-Curry came out strong in the first set, using balanced attacking led by Chris Milfort and Jayden Garcia to build an early lead while Dean countered with kills from
Brandon Mimande (East Providence, R.I.) and
Travis Johnson (Taunton, Mass.). Curry closed the set 25–22 to take the match lead.
-In the second set, the Colonels continued their offensive efficiency. Milfort powered multiple kills, and Dean battled back with efforts from Allan and
Antonio Varela (East Providence, R.I.). However, Curry maintained control and secured a 25–15 victory.
-The third set featured intense back-and-forth play, as Dean's Mimande and Johnson again led the attack and
Rayan Echelh (Revere, Mass.) helped extend rallies with key digs.
-Curry answered every Bulldog surge with strong kills from Nicholas Watson and Brock Beggs, pulling ahead late in the set and closing it out 25–19 to complete the sweep.
