Men’s Lacrosse Taken Down by Blue Jays in GNAC Road Trip, 15-5

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Dean College men's lacrosse team fell in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play to the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 15-5. With the loss, the Bulldogs dropped to 2-4 (0-3 GNAC), while the Blue Jays improved to 4-1 (2-0 GNAC).

How it Happened:
-The Bulldogs jumped on the board first with a pretty goal from junior Manny Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.). Connor McCarthy (Whitman, Mass.) picked up an assist in the effort.
-However, the Blue Jays responded with a 4-0 scoring run spanning into the second quarter. Brenden Tedeschi picked up two goals, one of which unassisted, in the stretch.
-Dean broke the scoring chain with the 17th goal of the season for Nick Fernandez (Weymouth, Mass.). Alvarez-Segee assisted the goal to make it 4-2.
-USJ scored two more times in the second quarter to possess a 6-2 lead going into the intermission.
-Both teams scored one to open the second half. USJ added another courtesy of Tedeschi's hat-trick goal. Freshman Marc Sauchuk (Uncasville, Conn.) then scored a man-up goal after Mason Koloski was called for slashing. It was now 7-3 in favor of USJ.
-The home team scored two more times to close out the third quarter, including a man-up goal of their own. Joseph Marra (North Branford, Conn.) was also called for slashing, allowing Brycen Kennedy to score. At the end of the third, the Blue Jays led 9-3.
-Dean's goalkeeper David MacNeil (Whitman, Mass.) continued to keep the Bulldogs within striking distance. The sophomore made 15 total saves, including three in the final quarter.
-Both Fernandez and Sauchuk picked up scores in the final frame. Fernandez's score was assisted by Marra, while Sauchuk was aided by Alvarez-Segee.
-However, despite their offensive comeback in the fourth, the Blue Jays also picked up their pace. They scored a quintuplet of goals in the fourth quarter to take the win by a 15-5 final score.
