Lorenz Goes 2-3 in 8-7 Offensive Showdown: Baseball Splits Double-Header with Penn College of Technology

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Sophomore Kyler Lorenz (East Providence, R.I.) continued his offensive dominance, going 4-7 at the plate to help the Dean College baseball team split their double-header with Penn College of Technology. The team took game one by a score of 8-7 but lost in game two 8-3. With the split, the Bulldogs move to 6-2 on the season.

GAME ONE: Dean College 8, Penn College of Technology 7
-The Wildcats jumped out to a quick 3–0 lead in the first inning, using a two-run single and an RBI groundout to capitalize on early scoring opportunities.
-Dean's offense broke through in the bottom of the fourth inning, erupting for seven runs to flip the momentum. The Bulldogs took advantage of several Penn College defensive miscues while mixing in timely hitting.
-Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.) started the rally when his bunt forced an error that allowed Dean's first run to score.
-Moments later, Luke Fahey (Glastonbury, Conn.) put the ball in play and another Wildcats error allowed two runs to cross the plate, tying the game and energizing the Bulldogs' dugout.
-Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) followed with the biggest hit of the inning, driving a triple to right-center field to give Dean its first lead of the afternoon.
-The Bulldogs kept the pressure on - Dylan Altermatt (North Branford, Conn.) reached on a play that plated two more runs before Nick Amendolara (Bayville, N.Y.) capped the rally with an RBI single, giving Dean a commanding 7–3 advantage.
-Penn College chipped away late, scoring once in the fifth inning and adding three runs in the sixth to pull within 8–7, setting up a tense final inning.
-Dean's pitching staff closed the door in the seventh, retiring the side to secure the one-run victory. Spencer Lichstrahl (Fort Lauderdale, N.Y.) secured the save while starter Kiefer Culligan (South Windsor, Conn.) grabbed his second win of the season.

GAME TWO: Penn College of Technology 8, Dean College 3
-Penn College jumped out early in the first inning. Levi Purnell lined a two-run double to left-center to give the Wildcats a 2–0 lead.
-The Wildcats extended the advantage in the second inning, capitalizing on a pair of Dean fielding errors and a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 4–0.
-Dean answered in the third inning, manufacturing three runs to climb back into the game. After Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.) scored on a throwing error during a stolen-base attempt, Fahey reached on an error that allowed Giambra and Kyler Lorenz (East Providence, R.I.) to score and cut the deficit to 4–3.
-Penn College responded quickly in the bottom of the third, scoring on a wild pitch to regain momentum and stretch the lead to 5–3.
-The Wildcats added another run in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Purnell before tacking on two insurance runs in the sixth. This was highlighted by a run-scoring single from Shawn Townsend and a Purnell RBI double to make it 8–3.
-Dean was unable to generate additional offense down the stretch. Penn College pitching held the Bulldogs to three hits over the seven-inning contest to take it by the 8-3 final score.
