MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – In a game that saw three home runs and 21 total runs, the Dean College baseball team fell in their Wednesday contest to La Roche University by a final score of 13-8. Dean officially takes their first loss of the season (5-1), while La Roche moves to 3-9.
The Basics
WINNING PICHER: Jimmy Roe
LOSING PITCHER:
JR Salvadore (Barre, Mass.)
TOTAL TIME: 2:58
How it Happened:
-Dean wasted little time getting on the board in the top of the first inning.
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) launched a solo home run to give the Bulldogs an immediate 1–0 advantage and set the tone for a strong start at the plate.
-The Bulldogs continued to apply pressure in the early innings, adding another run in the second before breaking the game open in the third inning. Dean strung together several timely hits, including RBI knocks from
Kyler Lorenz (East Providence, R.I.) and
Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.), to plate four runs and build what appeared to be a comfortable 6–0 lead.
-La Roche quickly answered in the bottom of the third, capitalizing on key hits to swing momentum. The Redhawks erupted for five runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Aaron Exler, trimming the Bulldogs' lead to just one run, 6–5.
-The momentum continued to swing in La Roche's favor in the fourth inning. The Redhawks pushed across three more runs to erase the deficit entirely and take their first lead of the game at 8–6.
-Dean responded in the fifth inning with a statement of power.
Matthew Dutton (Dublin, Ireland) and
Gavin Goss (Glenwood, Falls, N.Y.) delivered back-to-back solo home runs, energizing the Bulldogs' dugout and tying the game once again at 8–8.
-After the Bulldogs pulled even, La Roche regained control in the sixth inning. They scored two runs to reclaim the lead before adding additional insurance in the seventh inning.
-This last-minute push stretched the advantage and ultimately secured the 13–8 victory. The game would be cut short in the eighth inning due to time constraints on the field.

-Dutton (2-4, Run, HR, RBI)
-
Dylan Altermatt (North Branford, Conn.) (2-3, 2 Runs)
