MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – It was an impressive sweep by Dean College baseball in their Tuesday double-header. The team broke the program's record for stolen bases in a single game while scoring 25 combined runs in their pair of victories over Cairn University and Hilbert College.
With their respective 10-3 and 15-4 victories, Dean improves to 5-0 for the first time in program history.
Notables:
-With their 14 stolen bases vs. Cairn, the Bulldogs officially set a new program record for stolen bases in a single game. The previous record was 12 stolen bases, set by the 2018 team vs. the University of Valley Forge on 3/9/18.
-Senior
Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.) also broke the program record for stolen bases by one player in a single game. Favata recorded five against the Highlanders on Tuesday.

-Dean quickly found the box score in the game's first inning.
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) roped an RBI single down the left field line, allowing both
Luke Fahey (Glastonbury, Conn.) and
Case LaChance (Latham, N.Y.) to score. It was 2-0 Dean at the end of the first inning.
-Junior pitcher
Nick Swain (South Portland, Maine) kicked off the best performance of his career. Swain mowed down the early parts of Cairn's lineup, retiring four of their first six batters. Swain also picked off Jake Murnock, his first successful pickoff attempt of the year.
-The Bulldogs added two more runs in the fourth inning.
Kyler Lorenz (East Providence, R.I.) picked up another RBI, while
Nick Amendolara (Bayville, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch. Dean led 4-0 at the end of the fourth.
-Inning number six proved to be Dean's largest. They scored five more runs, highlighted by RBIs by Lorenz and
Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.).
-
Justin Horton (Trumbull, Conn.) scored Dean's final run in the seventh via wild pitch.
-Despite Cairn scoring three runs in the eighth and ninth innings, the Bulldogs slammed the door to reach victory. They won by the final score of 10-3.
GAME TWO: Dean College 15, Hilbert College 4

-The Bulldogs showcased their offensive prowess in their second game of the day. As a team, Dean amassed 17 total hits to complete their 15-run performance against the Hilbert Hawks.
-Hilbert scored the game's first run on an RBI from Dustin Hendrix. However, Dean quickly responded with a pair of runs. Paschetto laced an RBI triple, scoring both Fahey and LaChance. Dean led 2-1 after the first inning.
-The Hawks scored again in the third inning with an RBI from Harley Hoag, tying the game at 2-2. History then repeated itself, as Dean once again responded. This time, they scored four runs in the bottom half. Their efforts were highlighted by a huge double from
Dylan Altermatt (North Branford, Conn.). This eventually became Altermatt's first of three doubles in the game.
-Chase Porter grabbed Hilbert's third run of the game in the fourth. However, his effort was quickly shadowed by a monster sixth inning by Dean. They scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth. Including a three-RBI double by
Gavin Goss (Glenwood Falls, N.Y.). By the end of the frame, Dean led Hilbert by 11 runs.
-The barrage continued in the seventh. Paschetto scored his third RBI of the game on a sacrifice flyout, bringing home LaChance.
-The Hawks scored one more run in the final inning, but by then, the damage had been done. Dean took their fifth straight victory by a final score of 15-4.
