MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Dean College baseball team improved to 3-0 on Monday afternoon, taking down Manhattanville University 7-1 at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. With the victory, the Bulldogs improved to 3-0 and handed the Valiants their first loss of the season (3-1).
The Basics:
WINNING PICHER:
Owen Critchley (Dayton, Maine)
LOSING PITCHER: Max Krom
TOTAL TIME: 2:40

How it Happened:
-Both sides were rendered scoreless through the first three innings of the game. Critchley struck out the side in the second inning and four total batters by the end of the third. Meanwhile, Dean only picked up three hits in the trio of innings.
-Dean's opening run was highlighted by a triple from senior
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.). However, he was left stranded after a quick pop-up.
-Critchley allowed a double in the top of the fourth but quickly found his footing afterward. He kept the Valiants off the board, allowing Dean to step back into the batter's box.
-Both
Nick Amendolara (Bayville, N.Y.) and
Matthew Dutton (Dublin, Ireland) were struck by pitches, putting two Dean runners aboard. They both scored on an RBI single from
Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.), giving Dean the first lead of the game.
-Dean extended its lead to three in the fifth inning. Fahey's second collegiate homer soared over the left-center field gap, sending the Bulldogs bench into a frenzy.
-Dean's offensive prowess allowed Critchley to stay confident on the mound. He finished the ballgame with the win, tossing six innings while giving up zero runs.
-The Bulldogs capped off their impressive afternoon with a four-run seventh inning. Fahey snagged another RBI on a double, followed by doubles from Paschetto and Dutton. Dean scored its seventh run of the game with an RBI single from Giambra.
