BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Dean College men's volleyball team dominated in their Saturday tri-match at Sarah Lawrence College, defeated both York College and Sarah Lawrence by a final score of 3-0. With the sweep. The Bulldogs improved to 5-7 on the year.
Notables:
-This is the first time since 2018 where the Bulldogs have won both matches in a tri-match with a score of 3-0. They defeated both Sarah Lawrence and Pratt, 3-0, on February 11
th, 2018.
Match One: Dean College 3, York College 0
-Dean dominated in their first set against the Cardinals, winning by a final score of 25-10. The Bulldogs took advantage of two consecutive errors from York, followed by a quick service ace from
Ayden Rogers (Tewksbury, Mass.).

Travis Johnson (Taunton, Mass.) started his impressive day in this match, scoring three kills in the opening 15 points.
-Kills from
Hunter Armitage (Westerly, R.I.) and
Antonio Varela (East Providence, R.I.) put the Bulldogs over the edge in the first set.
Will Wheatley (Dover, N.H.) also grabbed his first points of the season.
-The Bulldogs proceeded to win the next sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-12. This was headlined by an impressive 19 service aces, one of their highest service aces in a single match.

Match Two: Dean College 3, Sarah Lawrence College 0
-After an impressive 3-0 win over York, the Bulldogs set their sights on striking back against Sarah Lawrence College. Dean lost to Sarah Lawrence earlier in the season by a score of 3-2.
-Dean started the match with a statement, winning the first set by a final score of 25-14. More importantly, the Bulldogs committed zero errors in the set compared to 15 kills.
-The trio of Varela,
Arthur Felicio (Saugus, Brazil), and
Brandon Mimande (East Providence, R.I.) began the scoring for Dean. Johnson then added four kills in the next ten points, giving Dean a sizable lead. He eventually scored the final point in the set, putting Dean up 1-0 in the match.
-Johnson continued his stunning ways in the second set, helping Dean go on a 10-2 run. Sarah Lawrence, however, vigilantly fought back to keep the score close.
-The set remained close until the final point. With a 24-22 lead, Armitage swooped in and delivered the final point, giving Dean the 25-22 win and a 2-0 lead.
-The Bulldogs opened the final set with a 5-0 run, including a trio of kills from Johnson. However, errors became a factor for the Bulldogs in the final set. They committed 10 errors, allowing the Gryphons to keep their hopes alive.
-Just like the second set, Sarah Lawrence stayed close until the final moment. They had Dean within four, 24-20, thanks to a kill from Alex Xie.
-However, Varela ended the match in style. His spike, off a nice assist from Armitage, echoed off the floor and gave Dean the 25-20 set win. They swept the match by a final score of 3-0.
