Men’s Volleyball Falls Short in Pair of 3-2 Decisions During Final Tri-Match at Home

FRANKLIN, Mass. - The Dean College Volleyball team managed to reach the fifth set in both of their matches during the second Dean College Tri-Match of the season, but fell short in both contests by scores of 3-2. The Bulldogs hosted King's College in match one and Curry College in match two. Dean dropped to a 3-6 overall record on the year following the weekend.  

MATCH ONE: King's College 3, Dean College 2 
-The Bulldogs rallied after dropping the first set to the Monarchs. They produced a responsive 25-22 win in set two and a 25-20 win in set three.  
-King's College answered with a 25-20 victory in set four and a decisive 15-4 win in set five, opening the final set on 10-2 run.   
-Senior Arthur Felicio (Saugus, Brazil) led the Bulldogs on attack with 15 kills, including six in sets two and three, both of which were Dean victories 
-Sophomore Mason Rua (São Pedro do Sul, Portugal) registered a team-high 13 DIGs throughout the five sets. 
-First-year Travis Johnson (Taunton, Mass.) impressed at the front of the net during the first match. The right-side hitter totaled eight combined blocks, including three solo.

MATCH TWO: Curry College 3, Dean College 2 
-In similar fashion to the first match against King's College, Dean College responded after falling in the first set to Curry with back-to-back set wins. The Colonels took set one, 25-21, and the Bulldogs answered with a 25-20 win in set two and a 25-19 win in set three.  
-Curry College pushed the match to a fifth set with a 25-22 decision in set four. Throughout an even start to set five, the Colonels pulled away with four straight points in the middle of the set and cruised to a 15-11 victory.  
-Felicio led the Bulldogs in kills once again for Dean, totaling 16 kills. Johnson finished with nine kills behind Felicio.  
-Senior Hunter Armitage (Westerly, R.I.) paced Dean with 14 DIGs throughout the match. Rua finished second with 11, and Johnson rounded out the top three in DIGs at 10.
