FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College women's soccer team grabbed a crucial point on Wednesday afternoon, securing a 1-1 draw against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Simmons University. With the draw, the Bulldogs moved to 2-8-2 overall (1-4-1 GNAC), while the Sharks shifted to 0-3-5 (0-2-3 GNAC).
How it Happened:
- Dean was the first to break through in the 33rd minute. Senior
Kacie Consolini (Stafford Springs, Conn.) scored at 32:49, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Consolini recorded her second goal of the season, putting Dean in front after a competitive opening half.
-The Bulldogs carried their advantage into halftime and looked to protect the lead after the break. Simmons continued to generate chances, finishing with 15 shots, including seven on target, while Dean recorded five shots and two shots on goal.
-Dean's defense and goalkeeping helped keep Simmons off the scoreboard for much of the afternoon. Senior
Danielle Reinhard (Las Vegas, Nev.) made six saves, including five in the first half, as Simmons pressed for an equalizer.
-Simmons eventually tied the game in the 80th minute. Ella Askren scored at 79:25, leveling the match at 1-1. Dean held on through the closing minutes to secure the draw at Grant Field.
