WELLESLEY, Ma. – Senior forward
Abigail Lacy (Arroyo Grande, Calif.) put together a strong performance on Thursday afternoon. She scored 26 points and eight rebounds in women's basketball's 76-39 loss to Wellesley College.
With the loss, Dean drops to 5-8 on the season, while the Blue improve to 6-7.
How it Happened:
-The Blue jumped to a hot start in the first quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 15-5. A layup conversion in the first two minutes gave Lacy the first points for Dean.
Azaria Landry (Lacey, Wash.) would later add to Dean's score on a free-throw.
-Wellesley's opening lead also came with its flaws. The Blue shot for less than 40 percent from the field during the first quarter. This would later prove to be their worst shooting quarter of the game.
-The Blue continued their offensive surge through the second quarter, this time posting 24 points. They also shot a game-best 60 percent from the field.
-The Bulldogs improved through the second quarter with 11 points. Lacy possessed seven of those points, including two strong baskets from beyond the arch.
-Heading into halftime, Dean found themselves trailing to the Blue by a score of 39-16.
-The third quarter would be Dean's best. Through 10 minutes, Dean scored a game-high 13 points and shoot for over 35 percent from the field.
Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.), saw increased production in the third, posting a pair of points and an assist.
-Despite an uptick in production by the Bulldogs, Wellesley ran away with the lead. Their 37 second-half points sealed the victory by a final score of 76-39.
Standouts:
-Lacy (26 Points, 8 Rebounds)
-Doane (4 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 2 Steals)
