Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Falls Short in Late Comeback vs. Lasers, 89-82

NEWTON, Mass. – The Dean College men's basketball team mounted a strong comeback in the final minutes with Lasell University. However, they were ultimately defeated on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 89-82. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss drops Dean to 13-4 (3-1), while the Lasers improve to 8-10 (3-2).

How it Happened:
-The Bulldogs opened with the game's first basket. Izayah Porter (Jonesboro, Ga.) converted on a layup underneath the basket. Porter would also have all of Dean's first six points.
-However, despite the strong start, Lasell matched offensive pace of play. Deep three-pointers and consecutive layups propelled the Lasers in front, 13-8.
-This began a dominant stretch from Lasell, who eventually saw a lead as high as 20 points over the Bulldogs. Dean only converted on three of their 14 three-point attempts, allowing Lasell additional opportunities to score.
-At the end of the first half, the Lasers led Dean by a score of 53-37. Porter led the Bulldogs with 11 points in the first half. Christian Yeates (Atlanta, Ga.) had 10.
-The second half shaped to be in favor of the Bulldogs. Dean would outscore Lasell 45-36 through the final frame. They also shot for nearly 40 percent from the field.
-The Bulldogs slowly cut into the Lasell lead as the half progressed. At the six-minute mark, the lead became ten points. Then, at the eight-minute mark, it was just five. Naser Motley (Everett, Wash.) and Randy Vasquez (Methuen, Mass.) led the way with big scores in the stretch.
-Dean continued to march on, cutting the lead to three points with just one minute to play. Yeates converted on a jump shot, giving Dean 80 points on the afternoon.
-However, the run ended there. Lasell would force the Bulldogs into foul trouble, eventually converting free throws to secure the win. The Lasers were victorious with a final score of 89-82.
