Women's Soccer Comeback Ends Short Versus Colby-Sawyer, 2-3

Franklin, MA- The Dean College women's soccer team mounted a strong comeback versus Colby-Sawyer College, but ultimately fell short in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener 2-3. The team now falls to 0-3 (0-1), while the Chargers advance to 1-1-1 (1-0).

How It Happened:
-The Chargers wasted no time getting on the board in the first half. In the first ten minutes alone, Colby-Sawyer scored back-to-back goals, making it 2-0 early.
-Nine minutes later, the Chargers struck again. Lauren Ardolino scored her second goal of the game, making it 3-0 in favor of the visitors.
-Late into the first half, Dean finally struck. Lila Maiato (Coventry, RI) scored on a penalty kick goal, cutting the lead to 3-1. The first half would also conclude with this score.
-Going into the second session of play, the momentum drastically swung. First-year Kenzie Sherburne (Durham, NY) blasted a shot on-goal that was swallowed up. Shortly after, Colleen McIntyre (Southwick, MA) put one on-goal herself.
-On a service attempt by Dean, senior Emmalynn Schnitzer (Eastham, MA) hit the cross bar, coming inches from getting the Bulldogs on the board. Alas, the score remained 3-1.
-After continuously putting the pressure on, the Bulldogs scored once again late into the half. Madison Arthur (Winstead, CT) laid a perfectly-placed goal above the keeper, making it a once-score game with ten minutes to play.
-Dean continued to put the pressure on through the final moments. However, after making a loud bid to tie the game, the Chargers held them off to win the match. The final score remained 3-2.

Standouts:
-Maiato (Goal, SOG)
-Arthur (Goal, SOG)
-Lexi Gerow (Pownal, VT) (5 Saves, 45 Minutes Played)
