Field Hockey Falls to Marywood in Overtime, 2-1

Scranton, PA- After a back-and-forth battle throughout all four quarters, the Dean College field hockey team in overtime to Marywood University (PA) by a final score of 2-1. The Bulldogs now move to 3-1 on the season, while the Pacers advance to 2-1.

How it Happened:
-Both sides opened the game strong, The Bulldogs earned their first penalty corner eight minutes into the game, with Shea Cassani (Belgrade, ME) serving as the insert. However it proved to be unsuccessful, with the Pacers remaining vigilant up front. The Pacers earned one shot at the end of the period as well, but at the end of one, the score remained 1-1.
-The Pacers put the pressure on in the second. Sara Gardner (Hampstead, MD) earned a save, followed by a penalty corner and three additional shots. However, the Bulldogs stood all, keeping the game scoreless. Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, MA) and Emma Gragen (Brattleboro, VT) produced shots on-goal, but came up blank. The game remained scoreless, 0-0, heading into halftime. 
-Four minutes into the third quarter, the Pacers broke the scoring. An unassisted goal by Mariane Jones gave Marywood a 1-0 lead.
-Throughout the final quarter and a half, both sides exchanged blows. Cassani recorded a defensive save in the process, keeping the score to one. Emma Mock (Tunkhannock, PA) also took back-to-back penalty corners. 
-In the final minutes of the game, the Bulldogs finally got on the board. Mock found the back of the net in a hurry, making it 1-1. Emily Yazzetti (Mahopac, NY) picked up an assist on the play. After regulation, the game was at a stand still, 1-1.
-The Pacers would win the game two minutes into overtime. Addison Marcin scored the game-winning goal for Marywood, sending them home victorious 2-1.
