Franklin, MA- The Dean College field hockey team dominated in their home opener versus WestConn, winning by a final score of 4-1. With the win, the Bulldogs now move to 2-0 on the season, while the Wolves drop to 1-1.
How it Happened:
-The Bulldogs opened the game with the momentum, recording multiple shots and keeping the pressure on. That pressure broke six minutes in -
Katrina Lee (Brookline, NH) scored her first goal of the season to put Dean up 1-0
Emma Gragen (Brattleboro, VT) recorded the assist.
-Through the next 25 minutes, Dean would control the pace of the game. They would also stop several shots from WestConn's side, preserving the 1-0 lead.
Kelsey Blair (Carmel, NY) and
Shea Cassani (Belgrade, ME) would also make defensive saves in the span. After the conclusion of the first half, the Bulldogs still led 1-0.
-The third quarter saw both side score once. Dean would extend their lead first, with Gragen scoring a goal of her own. Eight minutes later, WestConn cut the lead in half, making it 2-1.
-Gragen struck again to open the fourth quarter, scoring her second goal and third point of the game.
Jadyn Crowell (Bordentown, NJ) picked up the assist.
-The Bulldogs would seal the deal in the 48th minute. Lee would net her second goal of the game, including the fourth point of the day from Gragen. Dean would preserve their lead through the final 12 minutes and win the game, 4-1.
