Women's Soccer Continues Run With 2-1 Victory Over Mitchell

Franklin, MA- The Dean College Women's Soccer team continued their winning ways on Tuesday afternoon, taking down Mitchell College by a final score of 2-1. With the win, the Bulldogs now move to 2-6-1 (1-3-1), while the Mariners drop to 1-5-0 (0-5-0).

How it Happened:
-Right out of the gate, the Bulldogs carried a strong energy on offense. Junior Kacie Consolini (Stafford Springs, CT) recorded a header shot less than two minutes into the match, followed by another shot that was blocked in the box.
-Consolini would continue to apply the pressure, keeping the pressure inside the offensive zone for Dean. Shortly after Consolini's shots, Dean would draw two fouls, allowing Lila Maiato (Coventy, RI) to relay a beautiful service from the near side. Off a tip from Consolini, first-year Amelia McQuiggan (Taunton, MA) would find the back of the net, giving Dean the 1-0 lead in the 10th minute.
-The Bulldogs would continue their barrage of shots, keeping Mitchell backed into their own zone. Dean would record 19 total shots in the first half compared to Mitchell's four. After a dominant showing, the Bulldogs led the Mariners 1-0 at the half.
-Dean would go right back to work in the second half, recording three different shots around the goal. However, things would slowly shift from here. Mitchell would secure a corner kick chance, followed by two shots in front of goalkeeper Lexi Gerow (Pownal, VT). The Mariners would tie the game in the 54th minute off a cross from Taylor Bialowas, setting up Ava Iwasko for the score.
-Twelve minutes later, the Bulldogs would have their answer. Off a corner by Maiato, Consolini would pin a precise header in the left side of the goal, giving Dean the 2-1 advantage.
-Dean would maintain firm control for the remainder of the match. The Bulldogs allowed just three shots from the Mitchell side compared to their 14. In the entire match, Dean would produce 41 shots, a single-game high on the season. Their dominant performance on offense pushed them to victory by the final score of 2-1.
