Henniker, NH- The Dean College Women's Soccer team produced a strong effort on Saturday afternoon, earning themselves a point in a 2-2 draw with New England College. The result moves Dean to 1-6-1 (0-3-1) and New England College to 3-4-2 (0-2-2).
How it Happened:
-The first half of the game opened in an absolute frenzy. Dean would be the ones to strike first, scoring in the ninth minute. Colleen McIntyre (Southwick, MA) would net her second of the season, assisted by
Amelia McQuiggan (Taunton, MA). The Bulldogs would have the early 1-0 lead.Â
-Six minutes later, New England College would have their scoring turn. Mia Loewenberg would find the back of the net, tying the game at one apiece.
-Dean would strike again four minutes after the 'grims.
Madison Arthur (Winstead, CT) scored her second goal of the season, unassisted, to put the Bulldogs back in front.Â
-The Bulldog defense would hold strong through the final minutes of the first half. A barrage of shots would come from the New England College offense, but Dean held strong. The score remained 2-1 Dean at the half.
-In the 52nd minute, New England College would tie the game again. Estrella Michaelidis would get the goal, assisted by Julianna Barrett.Â
-For the remainder of the game, both sides would trade blows in the box. The trio of McIntyre, Arthur, and McQuiggan would apply the pressure for Dean. A variety of players would aid in the efforts for the Pilgrims, but goalkeeper
Danielle Reinhard (Las Vegas, NV) would stand tall.
-NEC would get one last chance in the 89th minute, with Barrett loading one on the goal. However, Reinhard made the save, securing the 2-2 draw in full time.
