Field Hockey Dominates Saint Joseph's in Wednesday Slip N' Slide, 4-2

Franklin, MA- The Dean College field hockey team dominated against Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Wednesday afternoon, winning the rain-filled game by a score of 4-2. With the win, the Bulldogs move back to .500 (5-5, 2-1 GNAC) and the Monks drop to 4-3 (3-1 GNAC).

How it Happened:
-The Bulldogs opened the game on the attack. Their first opportunity struck in the ninth minute on a penalty corner allowed by the Monks. Shea Cassani (Belgrade, ME) put the play in motion, prompting an initial shot from Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, MA). On the deflected rebound, Emily Yazzetti (Mahopac, NY) swung the ball quickly to Ramos, who buried it for Dean's first score of the game.
-Three minutes later, the Monks successfully responded. Dean's goalkeeper Sara Gardner (Hampstead, MD) made several consecutive saves, but after covering every inch in the box, Emilia Galimberti found the loose rebound and tied the game 1-1.
-To add to the frenzy, the Bulldogs took the lead again in the fifteen minute. Dean pushed the attacking zone, creating a scrum in front of the box. After a strong pass from Jordan Boelig (Tilton, NH), Katrina Lee (Brookline, NH) scored to give Dean the 2-1 advantage. This was Lee's fifth goal in two games.
-Dean continued on the attack in the 2nd quarter, getting a penalty corner and additional shots from Ramos & Yazzetti. The Bulldog defense also kept Saint Joseph's to zero shots in the quarter. At the break, Dean remained in the lead 2-1.
-The Bulldogs pounced again just 39 seconds into the third. Yazzetti secured a penalty stroke opportunity and fired a top-corner shot home. Dean now held a two-goal lead over Saint Joe's
-Ten minutes later, the Bulldogs would score one again. Ramos would bury her second of the game, giving Dean a commanding three-goal lead going into the final quarter.
-Although the Monks would score in the 58th minute, the control strongly remained in favor of Dean. The Bulldogs would end the game victorious by a final score of 4-2.
-This is the first time in program history that the Bulldogs have defeated Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
