Men's Soccer's Last-Minute Rally Ends Short in GNAC Match with Emmanuel, 1-2

Franklin, MA- The Dean College men's soccer team rallied hard in the final minutes of the match, but ultimately fell short in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play with Emmanuel College. The 1-2 loss drops Dean to 2-5-2 (1-3-0) on the year, while the Saints move to 3-1-4 (1-1-1).

How it Happened:
-The Saints came out of the gate swinging, gaining multiple shots around the box. Senior goalkeeper Jake Godwin (Norwalk, CT) stood tall, making key saves in the early minutes. The Bulldogs first shot would come shortly after, with Austin Clark (Rio Rancho, NM) having a header opportunity of his own.
-From the seventh minute to the 22nd minute, Dean would try to keep Emmanuel at bay offensively. The Saints launched a barrage of shots on-goal, trying to capture the first goal of the match. However, Godwin and the Bulldog defense stood tall again.
-Both Clark and Tyler Clay (Attleboro, MA) would get the final two chances for Dean at the half, but after 45 minutes of action, the score remained 0-0.
-It would be Dean's turn to go on the attack coming out of the break. The Bulldogs would have five different chances on-goal, but none of which were successful. Sophomore Ethan Henderson (Hartlepool England) would come the closest on a tipped shot inside the box.
-The draw would finally be broken in the 59th minute. Emmanuel's Samuel Cote would find the back of the net of Godwin, giving the Saints the 1-0 lead.
-The game would get physical from that point forward. A total of six cards would be issued in the second half, including a red card on Emmanuel's Miles Mayo.
-Emmanuel would capture their second goal of the game in the 71st minute off a rebounded shot by Jacob Beck.
-In the final ten minutes, the Bulldogs would put the pedal to the floor. Senior Nate Potter (North Bennington, VT) would score his first career goal in the 84th minute, slicing the lead in half. However, even with the extra opportunities in the final minutes, the comeback fell short. Dean would fall to Emmanuel by the final score of 1-2.

Standouts:
-Potter (1st Career Goal, SOG, 2 Shots)
-Henderson (6 Shots, 4 SOG)
-Raul Maldonado (Spring Hill, FL) (3 Shots)
-Godwin (11 Saves, 2 GA, 90:00 Minutes Played)
