Chicopee, MA- The Dean College field hockey team delivered a record-breaking performance with an 11–0 victory over Elms College in GNAC Conference play Saturday, setting a new program high for most goals in a single game. With the win, Dean moves to 4-5 (1-1 GNAC) while Elms drops to 0-6 (0-1 GNAC).
How it Happened:
-Dean wasted no time taking control, scoring five goals in the first quarter.
Katrina Lee (Brookline,NH) opened the scoring just 53 seconds in. She tapped home her first of 4 goals on the day. She completed her first career hat trick by the 10-minute mark of the 1st.
Emily Yazzetti (Mahopoc, NY) and
Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, MA) added to the tally, while goalie
Hailey Sykes (Pitman, NJ) kept Elms off the board.
-The second quarter saw Junior
Shea Cassani (Belgrade, ME) score on a penalty stroke, while Ramos,
Emily Kilpatrick (Marion, MA), and
Jadyn Crowell (Bordentown, NJ) pushed the halftime score to 9–0.
-In the second half, Dean maintained control.
Kelsey Blair (Carmel, NY) scored her first career goal in the third quarter, and Lee capped off her historic day with a fourth goal in the final quarter.
-Sykes would go on to deny Elms' only shot in goal, earning her first career shutout.
-Dean outshot Elms by a wide margin and earned over a dozen penalty corners, capping off a statement victory.
