Kacie Consolini (Stafford Springs, CT) netted women's soccer's first goal of the season in their 1-6 loss to Curry College Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Bulldogs drop to 0-2 on the year, while the Colonels move to 2-0.
How it Happened:
-Similar to opening day, the Bulldogs were quick to jump on the attack. Consolini recorded a shot on-goal within the first ten minutes of the game, followed by a corner kick by sophomore
Zia Lear (Griswold, CT). Curry also attempted three consecutive shots on-goal, but all were saved by
Danielle Reinhard (Las Vegas, NV).
-The Bulldogs were the first to jump on the board. Consolini beat her defender to the ball, allowing her to sneak a shot past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. The Bulldogs led 1-0 halfway through the first half.
-However, the momentum quickly shifted to the Colonels. Throughout the rest of the match, Curry would score a combined six unanswered goals against Dean. They scored two in the first half and an additional four in the second. Curry also saw six different goal scorers throughout their efforts.
-Despite the loss, the Bulldogs also produced a strong offensive outing. Along with Consolini's two shots,
Kassidy Martins (East Providence, RI) and
Kenzie Sherburne (Durham, NY) also netted shots on-goal. Reinhard and
Lexi Gerow (Pownal, VT) also made a combined 15 saves.
Standouts:
-Consolini (Goal, 2 SOG)
-Reinhard (8 Saves)
-Gerow (7 Saves)
