Franklin, MA- The Dean College field hockey team dropped their contest with Plymouth State University Friday afternoon by a final score of 0-3. With the loss, the Bulldogs move to 3-5 (0-1 GNAC) while the Panthers advance to 3-3 (0-1 LEC)
How it Happened:
-Similar to Tuesday's game, the first half kept a quick pace. The Bulldogs opened on the attack, recording three consecutive shots within range of the goal.
Katrina Lee (Brookline, NH),
Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, MA) and
Jadyn Crowell (Bordentown, NJ) all put pressure on the Panthers, but they came up empty. Plymouth State also had their fair share of shots, but goalkeeper
Sara Gardner (Hampstead, MD) kept them aside.
-Ramos would continue to apply the pressure for Dean, placing four more shots close to the goal. Over half of Ramos's shots in the game were from the first half (five). Alas, despite the strong efforts on offense, the game remained scoreless 0-0 at halftime.
-In the third quarter, the Panthers would apply a barrage of shots, with Gardner making the majority of the stops. However, on a penalty corner with under eight minutes remaining in the third, Plymouth State got on the board. On a shot from Katie Porrello, Jen Newick deflected the loose ball and found the back of the net. The Panthers now led 1-0.
-Plymouth State would go on to score two more times in the game: Once at the end of the third, and again nine minutes into the fourth quarter.
-Both Ramos and
Emily Yazzetti (Mahopac, NY) would continue to try and find the goal, but they ultimately came up short. The Bulldogs would lose in full time by a final score of 0-3.
Standouts:
-Ramos (9 Shots, 3 SOG)
-Yazzetti (7 Shots, 3 SOG)
-Gardner (14 Saves, 60:00 Minutes Played)
