Women's Volleyball Drops Opening GNAC Match to Colby-Sawyer, 0-3

Franklin, MA- The Dean College women's volleyball team fell in their opening Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match of the season to Colby-Sawyer College. The 0-3 final score puts Dean at 1-4 (0-1), while the Chargers move to 2-5 (1-0).

How it Happened:
-The Bulldogs opened with the first point and kill of the match. Chloe Demaio (Needham, MA) launched a ball at the front of the net, giving Dean the early momentum.
-The next ten points would be a grudge match, with both sides splitting the load evenly. However, Colby-Sawyer would launch ahead shortly after, scoring five consecutive points in the opening set.
-Colby-Sawyer would eventually win the first set after going for a long stretch of seven consecutive points.
-To open the second set, Colby-Sawyer would record two additional points. Dean would finally end the stretch after a service error by Bree Bacon. Even with the Chargers holding the momentum, Dean would not go away. Olivia Mackinnon (Plymouth, MA) would gain a service ace in the middle of second set. Sophomore Maddy Seymour (Simsbury, CT) would also gain a kill in the stretch. Seymour would fall just shy of 20 career kills after the conclusion of the match.
-After two sets of action, the Chargers led by a score o 2-0.
-Errors continued to bite the Bulldogs, allowing Colby-Sawyer to get ahead in set number three. Dean would only have one kill in the final set, recorded by Demaio. The remaining of their 14 set points would come from errors by the Chargers.
-Colby-Sawyer would walk away victorious by a final score of 25-14 in set three and 3-0 in the match.
