Franklin, MA- The Dean College women's volleyball team made a strong comeback, but ultimately fell short on Tuesday night to Emerson College by a score of 1-3. With the loss, the Bulldogs now move to 1-5 (0-1) on the season, while the Lions move to 4-5 (0-0 NEWMAC).
How it Happened:
-Emerson took the first set by storm, going on a 9-0 run to open and ultimately winning the set 25-6. The Bulldogs would shortly get their first point after off a kill from
Chloe Demaio (Needham, MA). The assist went to setter
Emma Siniscalchi (Huntington, NY), who picked up the 200th assist of her career. Demaio and
Olivia Mackinnon (Plymouth, MA) would have the other two kills for Dean in the first set.
-The Lions woulds strike again in set two, taking it by a score of 25-13. However, Dean should a stronger poise in set two,
Valeria Cabezas (Nevarre, FL) would pick up her first kill of the match, followed by a strong kill by senior
Caitlin Cooper (Amherst, NH). Now down 2-0, Dean needed a big swing heading into the third set.
-The Bulldogs would find their groove in the third set, going back and forth through the first five points. Emerson slowly pulled away in the middle portion of the set. However, Dean would put them to a screeching halt. The Bulldogs picked up four consecutive points, including a kill from Cooper and back-to-back aces from Cabezas.

Skylar Raskevitz (Easthampton, MA) would pick up a service ace in the stretch, accompanied by a kill by
Maddy Seymour (Simsbury, CT). With the kill, Seymour also reached 200 kills in her young career. The Bulldogs would rout Emerson by a score of 25-23 and force a fourth set.
-Despite making a strong comeback, Emerson would quickly find their footing and seal the match in the fourth set. Emerson would win the set 25-11 and the match 3-1.
