Franklin, MA- The Dean College women's soccer team fell short versus Rhode Island College on Saturday Afternoon by a final score of 0-3. The Bulldogs drop to 0-1 on the year, while Rhode Island College moves to 1-1.
How it Happened:
-The opening twenty minutes of the match were neutral from both sides. Senior goalkeeper
Lexi Gerow (Pownal, VT) made multiple key saves to keep the Anchormen out of the goal.
-Sophomore
Madison Arthur (Winsted, CT) began the first opportunity on offense for the Bulldogs. Her efforts on the throw-in, plus multiple stops in the corner, allowed Dean to get a shot on goal and keep the pressure active.
-In the 23rd minute, the Anchormen broke the score. Forward Sarah Pimentel was able to find the back of the net, giving Rhode Island the early 1-0 advantage.
-The Bulldogs made one more bid in the first half. Sophomore
Zia Lear (Griswold, CT) struck a curve ball on-goal. However, the defense was able to capitalize and made the stop. Heading into the break, the Bulldogs trailed by one, 1-0.
-Once again, the Bulldogs opened the half strong.
Danielle Reinhard (Las Vegas, NV) took over in goal, making several stops.
Miro McIntyre Clere (Sydney, Austrailia) also made a defensive stop.
-In the 64th minute, Tayshia Cary found the back of the net for the Anchormen, furthering their lead to 2-0.
-Shortly after Cary's goal, Hannah Rezendes scored the Anchormen's third goal of the game, making it 3-0 with 25 minutes left.
-Although the Bulldogs put the pressure on towards the end of the match, the score halted in its place. The Anchormen took the win by a score of 3-0.
