Franklin, MA- The Dean College field hockey team rolled into an opening day victory, taking down Nichols College by a final score of 5-2. With the road win, Dean opens the year 1-0, while the Bison fall to 0-1. 

How it Happened:
-The first ten minutes of the game opened with an even slate. Although the Bulldogs recorded four fouls to open the contest, they quickly regained their momentum. At the 12:49 mark in the first quarter, Emily Yazzetti (Mahopac, NY) netted the opening goal. 
-Yazzetti would repeat her success in the second quarter, scoring Dean's second goal to make it 2-0. However, the Bison were able to swiftly respond, scoring a goal towards the end of the quarter to cut Dean's lead in half.
-Two minutes into the second half, Nichols scored once more, tying the game at two. However, this would prove to be the final goal the Bison scored. Eight minutes later, Emma Gragen (Brattleboro, VT) gave the Bulldogs the lead. Yazzetti also picked up her third point of the day with an assist.
-Deja Vu would strike in the fourth quarter. Gragen netted her second of the day, assisted by Yazzetti, to make the game 4-2. Ninety seconds later, Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, MA) scored her first goal of the season to put Dean up by three. The score would hold until the final horn. The Bulldogs walked away victorious by a score of 5-2.
