Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Spoiled on Senior Day by Rivier, 14-9

Franklin, MA- The Dean College men's lacrosse team lost in their senior day matchup with Rivier University by a final score of 14-9. With the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss, Dean now moves to 8-2 (2-2) on the season, while the Raiders advance to 8-1 (5-0).

Before the game, the Dean College Department of Athletics and Recreation took the time to honor the seniors on the 2025 men's lacrosse roster: Aiden Anthony (Stoneham, MA), Chris Carbone Jr. (Cranston, RI), Owen Brine (Lebanon, NH), Ryan Clunie (North Andover, MA), Aidan McCarthy (Whitman, MA), Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, CT), Grayson Colvin (Wake Forest, NC), Zach Havens (Hingham, MA), Jason Richard (Holden, MA), Logan Gravel (Dudley, MA), Isaiah Williams (Durham, NC), and Cooper Flanagan (Goffstown, NH).

The Raiders came out strong, opening the game with three quick goals, two of which were scored by Aiden Conley within a minute of each other. The Bulldogs responded with a goal from Kyle Pianka (Greenvile, RI), assisted by Kevin Gardner (West Haven, CT), to make it 3-1. However, Rivier quickly regained their momentum. Goals from Michael Ference, Chris Heitmiller, and another from Conley gave the Raiders a commanding 6-2 lead. Richard then netted an unassisted goal to keep Dean within reach at 6-2.

The second quarter saw Rivier continue to dominate, with Coby Mercier scoring a solo goal early to push the lead to 7-2. Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA) answered with a goal of his own, assisted by Anthony. However, Rivier answered back with four more goals, including two from Conley and another from Heitmiller, extending their lead to 10-4 at halftime. The second half showed some fight from Dean, with Speirs scoring two goals, and Anthony adding another, but it wasn't enough to overcome Rivier's steady offensive attack.

In the third quarter, Rivier's offense slowed slightly, but they still managed to score two more goals, including one from Connor Eck, to make it 12-6. Dean tried to rally with goals from Speirs and Richard, narrowing the gap to 12-8, but Rivier responded with a pair of their own in the fourth to close out the game. Despite some late-game effort from Dean, including goals from Pianka and Brine, Rivier's lead sealed the deal. The Bulldogs would go on to lose by a final score of 14-9.

Speirs' hat trick led all Dean scoring. Richard followed closely, scoring two points off of goals. Six other players netted one point each for the Bulldogs. Elijah Beland (Augusta, ME) got the start in goal and suffered the loss, moving to 8-2 on the season. Dane Duarte (Londonderry, NH) would get the nod in the second half, making seven saves to close the contest.

Men's lacrosse is back in action on Wednesday, April 9th, when the team hosts Mitchell College for a 3:30PM GNAC game.
