Men's Lacrosse Conquers Mitchell in Program's Largest Margin of Victory, 29-3

Franklin, MA- The Dean College men's lacrosse team conquered their way to victory, defeating Mitchell College by a final score of 29-3. Dean moves to 9-2 (3-2) on the year, while Mitchell drops to 0-4 (0-4). This is also the program's largest margin of victory since joining the NCAA.

The Bulldogs set the tone early, scoring nine goals in the first quarter. Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, CT) led the charge with three goals, while six other players for the Bulldogs each scored a goal. Manny Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA) netted the first goal, followed by scores from Owen Brine (Lebanon, NH), Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA), Jason Richard (Holden, MA), Aidan McCarthy (Whitman, MA), and Kevin Gardner (West Haven, CT). Mitchell scored one goal in the quarter from Nathan Mahoney, but Dean's attack quickly submerged the effort.

The second quarter saw Dean continue their offensive onslaught, adding eight goals. M. Alvarez-Segee scored twice, and AJ Woodward (New Mlford, CT) added a goal. D. Alvarez-Segee added three assists, while Dean saw Christian Whittle (Harwich, MA) and Joseph Marra (North Branford, CT) get on the board. Mahoney would net one goal again for Mitchell, putting them down 17-2 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Dean maintained their dominance, scoring nine goals. The team showcased their depth, with multiple players finding the back of the net. Mitchell College added one goal in the quarter, bringing their total to three.? Freshman Gavin McCarthy (Whitman, MA) added a goal, as well as Kyle Pianka (Greenville, RI) and Cameron Cummings (Bennington, VT). Cummings' goal would be the first in his NCAA career.

The final quarter saw Dean add three more goals to their tally, including scores from Connor McCarthy (Whitman, MA) and Christian Taipe (Malden, MA).

The Alvarez-Segee brothers led the way offensively, scoring six total points each. C. McCarthy and Whittle followed closely with five points each. Two players scored four points each, two with three points each, and twelve additional players netted at least one point. Elijah Beland (Augusta, ME) got the win in goal, while Dane Duarte (Londonderry, NH), David MacNeil (Whitman, MA), and Colby Vaccaro (Beverly, MA) also saw action. 

The men's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, April 12th, traveling to Norwich University for a 2:00PM start time.
