Baseball Falls Short in Conference Series With Lasell

Waltham, MA- The Dean College baseball team fell in both their games versus Lasell University yesterday afternoon. The Bulldogs lost in game one by a final score of 5-3 and in game two by a score of 16-3. Dean now moves to 6-16 (3-4) while Lasell moves to 16-7 (5-1)

Game One: Lasell University 5, Dean College 3
In the series opener, Dean initially took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, courtesy of a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by Jordan Almendarez (Las Vegas, NV) that brought home Tyler Giambra (Prospect, CT). Lasell quickly responded in the same inning, with Silva's single driving in a run and making the score 2-1. In the third, Silva struck again to tie the game at two. After a sacrifice flyout by Lasell's Freitas, the Lasers went on to take a 3-2 lead.

The Bulldogs briefly tied the game in the fourth inning when Kyler Lorenz (East Providence, RI) stole second, allowing Luke Fahey (Glastonbury, CT) to score on the throw. However, Lasell's power came through in the sixth, with Bulk hitting a two-run homer to give Lasell a decisive 5-3 lead. Despite a solid offensive effort from Dean, including a two-hit performance from Rylan Secovich (Southwick, MA), they couldn't push across any more runs. The game ended with Lasell securing the win. Caldwell earning the victory and Simone earning the save. Dean's Philip Curran (West Springfield, MA) took the loss.

Game Two: Lasell University 16, Dean College 3
Game two saw the Bulldogs initially make some noise in the third inning, scoring three runs to take a brief 3-0 lead. Nick Amendolara (Bayville, NY) provided a highlight with a solo home run, and a couple of sacrifice plays from Secovich and Giambra helped bring in two more runs. However, Lasell responded immediately, exploding for four runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead, including a two-run single by Lyon.

Lasell continued to pile on the runs, scoring two more in the fourth and six in the fifth inning. Dean's pitching struggled to hold off Lasell's offensive surge, with Jayden Villalta (Pompton Lakes, NJ) taking the loss. Despite some solid individual performances, like Amendolara's home run, the Bulldogs were unable to stop Lasell's bats. The game ended with Lasell cruising to victory, 16-3.

The Bulldogs return to the diamond on Sunday, April 6th. Despite it being a road trip, Dean will serve as the home team in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match with Mitchell College (relocated due to weather). First pitch is scheduled for 2:00PM.
