Franklin, MA- The Dean College women's lacrosse team lost in their final home game of the season and senior day contest to Saint Joseph's College of Maine, 22-8. With the loss, Dean falls to 8-8 (4-6) on the season, while the Monks move to 11-5 (9-2).
Before the game, the Dean College Department of Athletics & Recreation honored the seniors of the women's lacrosse program:
Natalie Peterson (Hudson, MA),
Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, MA),
Aline Flores (Central Falls, RI), and
Haley Gaunt (Johnston, RI).
Into the game, the Bulldogs started strong, with Caroline Ramsey (Shreveport, LA) scoring the first goal of the game at 13:44 in the first quarter, unassisted. However, Saint Joseph's quickly responded with three consecutive goals, taking a 3-1 lead. Gaunt added another goal for Dean at 7:34 in the first quarter, unassisted, bringing the score to 5-2. Emma Mock (Tunkhannock, PA) also nodded a goal to narrow the deficit. Despite these efforts, Saint Joseph's continued to dominate, leading 14-6 at halftime.?
In the third quarter, Dean's offense struggled to keep pace. Gaunt scored her second goal of the game at 9:52, assisted by Ramsey, narrowing the gap to 14-7. However, Saint Joseph's responded with four unanswered goals, extending their lead to 18-7 by the end of the third quarter. In the final quarter, Gaunt completed her hat trick with a goal at 13:34, making the score 18-8. Despite this, Saint Joseph's added four more goals, securing a 22-8 victory over the Bulldogs.?
Gaunt led the Bulldogs with three goals, while Ramsey contributed one. Mock and Peterson each added one goal. Saint Joseph's had a well-balanced attack, with Taylor Dumond leading the team with five goals, and Mackenzie Siebert, Ella Highbarger, and Sophia Burton each scoring three. Shea Cassani (Belgrade, ME) took the loss in goal, despite making several key saves.
Dean will play in the final regular season game of the year on Tuesday, April 22nd, traveling to Simmons University for a 7:00PM start.
