Weston, MA- The Dean College men's volleyball team finished empty-handed in their Thursday match versus Regis College, falling by final score of 0-3. Dean moves to 2-12 (0-3) while Regis moves to 12-7 (2-4).
In the first set, Dean battled but could not overcome a dominant Regis attack. Regis hit at an impressive .542 clip, led by Adam Bonica, who tallied 7 kills, and Francesco Buanne with 5. Dean's offense was led by Nunu Coward-Jackson (Fresno, CA), Arthur Felicio (Saugus Brazil), and Jerney Price (San Antonio, TX), each finishing with 4 kills.
The second set was a tough one for the Bulldogs, as Regis capitalized on Dean's errors. Regis posted a balanced attack with 11 kills and only 5 errors, maintaining a .250 hitting percentage. Dean struggled to generate offense, managing just one kill while committing 8 errors. Even with some strong serving from Joseph Medeiros (Fairhaven, MA) who tallied 2 aces, the Bulldogs could not find a rhythm.
Dean's offense showed some improvement in the third set, with a few key kills from Price and Coward-Jackson. However, Regis' offensive firepower continued to dominate, with Bonica again leading the way with 5 kills. Despite a better hitting percentage from Dean (.125), Regis was simply too efficient, posting 12 kills and hitting .214. The Bulldogs fought until the end but fell short, with Regis closing out the match 25-19.
For the Bulldogs, Felicio led the defense with 5 digs, while setter Hunter Armitage (Westerly, RI) posted 11 assists. Dean also tallied 3 blocks, with Coward-Jackson and Price contributing. Regis was solid in all areas, as Suleiman Younes recorded 11 assists, and their defense was led by Jay Bodhidatta with 4 digs.Â
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, March 15th, with a tri-match at Wentworth Institure of Technology.
