Franklin, MA- The Dean College men's lacrosse team now improves to 7-0 (1-0) with their 12-1 Wednesday victory over the University of Southern Maine. The Huskies also drop to 2-7 (0-1) with the results of the contest.

In the opening quarter, the Bulldogs struck immediately. Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA) handled business as usual, opening the scoring just 37 seconds into the game, assisted by Aidan McCarthy (Whitman, MA). Manny Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA) followed with an unassisted goal at 13:07, pushing the lead to 2-0. Dean continued to dominate in the first quarter, with Diego adding another goal at 10:35, and Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, CT) scoring to make it 4-0. The Bulldogs' defense and offense were both on point, keeping Southern Maine scoreless throughout the first 15 minutes.

In the second quarter, Dean further solidified their control. Speirs scored again at 13:41, with an unassisted effort to extend the lead to 5-0. Manny found his brother Diego for another goal at 7:50, followed by Diego scoring once more at 6:34, making it 7-0. With just under three minutes left in the first half, Speirs added his third goal of the game, unassisted, to give Dean an 8-0 advantage at halftime. Southern Maine had no answer to Dean's offensive firepower and defensive pressure.

The Bulldogs continued their strong play in the second half. Kyle Pianka (Greenville, RI) got into the scoring column in the third quarter, assisted by Speirs, pushing the lead to 9-0. D. Alvarez-Segee then added another goal in the fourth, assisted by Speirs, to make it 10-0. It wouldn't be until the 10:32 mark in the final quarter where Southern Maine would score. However, it was too late, with Dean killing clock and cementing a 12-1 victory.

Dean closed out the game with two more goals in the final moments, one by Connor McCarthy (Whitman, MA) and one by AJ Woodward (New Milford, CT). McCarthy's goal was the first of his career, while Woodward notched his first on the season.

Diego led Dean's scoring once again, posting four goals and an assist. Speirs followed closely behind, scoring three goals and two assists. M. Alvarez-Segee netted two goals, while three other Bulldogs scored one goal each.
