Buzzards Bay, MA- The Dean College baseball team was taken down by Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Tuesday, falling by a final score of 15-3. Dean now moves to 3-12 (1-1) on the year, while the Buccaneers advance to 8-7 (0-0).

The Bucs jumped out to a commanding 8-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by a grand slam from Michael Estrada and a three-run double by Aaron Cole. Dean struggled to respond early but managed to get on the board in the fourth inning when Joshua Cavas McKinney, TX) singled, scoring N. Amendolara (Bayville, NY)

The Buccaneers added more runs in the fourth inning with a two-run homer from Brett Velzis, followed by a strong offensive showing in the fifth. The home team belted another home run, increasing the lead to 13-2. Despite the plethora of runs, Dean didn't go down without a fight. In the sixth inning, Colin Favata (Syosset, NY) singled to drive in a run, scoring Jordan Almendarez (Las Vegas, NV) and cutting the deficit to 13-2.

Massachusetts Maritime sealed the game in the seventh with an RBI sacrifice fly from Estrada and an additional walk. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs were unable to mount a comeback, despite another run produced in the ninth from Almendarez's sacrifice fly. Spencer Lichstrahl (Fort Lauderdale, FL) took the loss for Dean after struggling through a challenging start.

Dean recorded seven hits, with Cavas, Almendarez, and Favata contributing to the scoring. Almendarez also led Dean's efforts offensively, going 2-3 with a walk, RBI, and run.
