Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Stays Undefeated With Conference Win over Pilgrims, 15-11

Franklin, MA- The Dean College men's lacrosse remains undefeated, taking down New England College 15-11 in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener on Saturday, 15-11. Dean now moves to 6-0 (1-0), while the Pilgrims drop to 3-2 (0-1). The Bulldogs also secure their best program start since joining the NCAA.

The Bulldogs came out strong from the start, with Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA) leading the charge. He opened the scoring early in the first quarter, helping Dean take a quick 2-0 lead. Alvarez-Segee's second goal came just minutes later, pushing Dean's advantage to 4-1 as they capitalized on early opportunities. His offensive explosion continued throughout the first half, scoring four total goals in the first half. By the break, the Bulldogs held a 9-5 lead over New England.

Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, CT) played a crucial role in extending Dean's lead, scoring back-to-back goals in the second quarter. His first came off a quick feed from Alvarez-Segee, while the second was the result of a fast break that New England had no answer for. Manny Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA) was equally impactful, adding a goal in each of the first and second quarters, and finishing with three goals on the day. The highlight of the day was Manny's second goal, going through the legs of goalkeeper Logan Stroud from a backhand shot.

Despite a strong push from New England College in the final quarter, Dean's defense stood tall when it mattered most. New England scored four goals in the fourth, but the Bulldogs were quick to respond each time, keeping their opponents at a comfortable distance. The two goals from Aiden Anthony (Stoneham, MA) were vital in ensuring that Dean could stave off any late-game comeback attempts. With a balanced offensive effort and steady defense, the Bulldogs finished strong to secure the win, improving to 6-0 on the season.

Diego Alvarez-Segee tied his season high points total with seven, securing six total goals and one assist. His brother, Manny, finished second in points, scoring two goals and three assists. Speirs netted a hat trick for the Bulldogs, while Anthony and Joseph Marra (North Branford, CT) each netted goals. Josh Hackett (Orange, CT) ended the day 10-25 on face-offs, and Elijah Beland (Augusta, ME) made 12 saves against the Pilgrims.

Dean returns to action on March 22nd at 12:00PM, traveling to Anna Maria College for another GNAC showdown.
