Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Falls in Road Game Vs. Blue Jays, 98-44.

West Hartford, CT.- The Dean College women's basketball team fell on the road Tuesday night in a GNAC matchup versus the University of Saint Joseph (CT). The Bulldogs now fall to 5-16 (0-9), while the Blue Jays move to 13-7 (8-1).

The game did not open in favor of the Bulldogs. The Blue Jays went on a 16-2 run to open the first quarter, with Dean's only points coming from Abi Boutin (Rocky Hill, CT). The trend would continue for much of the first quarter, with Dean going into the next leg down 29-5. The remaining three points were scored by senior Tori Viau (Johnston, RI) and sophomore Jordan Ellis (Bridgeport, CT). Dean shot an effectiveness of 20 percent from the field, while contributing 50 percent at the free-throw line.

Heading into the second, the Bulldogs would find a spark thanks to the additional efforts of Ellis. Dean's first four points of the quarter would all be scored by Ellis, with both coming from mid-range. After some small runs by the Blue Jays, Dean would scratch their way back into the scoring column. Azaria Landry (Petersburg, VA) and Maranda Cournoyer (Millville, MA) would each convert on baskets. Alexandria Paquet (Santa Maria, CA) also scored points at the line. Dean would trail at the half 54-20.

Over the course of the next two quarters, the Bulldogs would produce a total of 24 points, with 15 of them being in the third. Kendrah Doane (New Salem, MA) opened the second-half scoring for Dean with a three-point shot, with Boutin and Paquet trailing right behind. Dean finished the third quarter with a 8-2 over Saint Joseph, their longest run of the night. However, after a quiet fourth quarter, would go-on to lose by a score of 98-44.

Landry led the way for Dean with 10 points, while Boutin and Paquet followed suit with nine each. Doane led the team in rebounds with four.

Dean is back in action on Wednesday, February 12th, when the team hosts Mitchell College in a GNAC showdown at 5PM.
