Franklin, MA- The Dean College men's lacrosse team throttled past Regis College in their non-conference, home opener by a score of 17-6. Dean moves to 1-0 (0-0) on the year, while Regis moves to 0-1 (0-0).
The Bulldogs set the tone early, establishing a 9-1 lead by the end of the first quarter and extending it to 13-1 at halftime. Leading the offensive charge for Dean was sophomore attackman Manny Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA), who tallied five goals, including the game's first score off an assist from his brother, Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA), just over two minutes into play.
Defensively, the Bulldogs were steadfast, limiting the Pride to a single goal in the first half. Regis found some offensive rhythm in the second half, with Brendan Cook leading their efforts by netting four goals, while Liam Donovan and Anthony Marsella each added one. However, Dean's early dominance ensured the outcome was never in question.
Junior midfielder Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, CT) and Diego Alvarez-Segee each contributed four goals, showcasing the team's scoring depth. Additional goals came from Aiden Anthony (Stoneham, MA), Kyle Pianka (Greenville, RI), Aidan McCarthy (Whitman, MA), and Josh Hackett (Orange, CT), rounding out a balanced offensive effort. Hacket also went 18-18 for face-offs during his collegiate debut.
This victory marks a strong start to the Bulldogs' 2025 campaign, positioning them well in the GNAC. Dean will look to maintain their momentum as they prepare for their next matchup on February 25th against Curry College, opening their road calendar.
