Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls in Heartbreaking OT Loss, 95-92

Boston, MA.- The Dean College men's basketball team lost in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday, falling 95-92 to Emmanuel College in overtime. The Bulldogs now move to 13-6 and 5-4 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, while Emmanuel moves to 3-16 (2-6).

The game was dominated early by the Bulldogs, with Dean leading 47-36 going into the locker room. Ja'maine Davenport (Mays Landing, NJ) helped the Bulldogs go on a 13-2 run to end the half. The senior guard connected on multiple baskets from the field while successfully converting on given three throws. Of those 13 points on the run, Davenport finished with 11 of them. Greg Farrow (Milwaukee, WI) also connected on a basket in that stretch.

Dean's first half was made special by the points off turnovers. Over the course of the first 20 minutes, the Bulldogs converted on nine points from Emmanuel's turnovers. They also connected on four additional points from turnovers throughout the rest of the contest.

Despite being down by nine at the half, and allowing additional scoring to begin the second, Emmanuel slowly clawed back in the contest. The Saints went on a 6-1 run halfway through the half, grabbing all six points through free throws. The Bulldogs then bolstered their offense, going up by 11 with just under six minutes left to play. However, after the Bulldogs wound up in foul trouble, the Saints catapulted to a staggering 15-0 run, eventually leaf-frogging Dean 77-75 with under two minutes left. A foul by Emmanuel's Mahari Guerrier put Frankie Idlett (Miami, FL) on the line, and with Dean trailing by two, he connected on both free throws to send the game into overtime.

Overtime saw the Bulldogs pull ahead early thanks to the efforts of Farrow and Billy Ray Barnes III (Inglewood, CA). The two teams would trade blows throughout the period, with the lead changing a total of four times. However, it was a three-pointer by Emmanuel's Damani Williams that put the Saints ahead and in the driver's seat. Emmanuel never lost the lead from that point and won the game 95-92.

Dean's Ja'maine Davenport led the way with an impressive 27-point performance. Meanwhile, Greg Farrow was right behind with 25 points and six total rebounds. Frankie Idlett finished just under 20 points (19) while collecting nine total rebounds and five assists.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday, traveling to the University of St. Joseph (CT) for a 7PM GNAC tip-off.
