Men's Basketball Fends Off Late Comeback, Defeats Fisher 86-84

Franklin, MA- The Dean College Men's Basketball team successfully stymied a late comeback by Fisher College on Thursday evening, winning by a final score of 86-84. With the win, Dean extends their win streak to three games and improves to 7-3 overall. Meanwhile, the Falcons drop to 10-4 on the year.

How it Happened:
-The Falcons would get off to a strong start in the first half, going on a 6-0 run in the first minute of action. Dean would finally get on the board ninety seconds off a strong fade from Xavier Boyd (Loganville, GA). Christian Yeates (Atlanta, GA) would also get on the board thanks to a drawn foul and successful free throw.
-However, Fisher would continue their offensive success through the entire first portion of the half. The Falcons would find success with speed, quickly moving the ball around the perimeter and crashing the basket. With ten minutes to play in the first half, Fisher led 20-16.
-At this portion, Dean began to mount their comeback. CJ Riley (Yonkers, NY) opened with a quick jump shot from mid-range, followed by another jumper from junior Naser Motley (Everett, WA). Dean would make it a one-point match with another three-point shot from Yeates.
-With the score 24-23, Boyd would crash the paint and find a successful layup, giving the Bulldogs their first lead of the evening.
-Both sides would continue to trade blows through the remainder of the first half. However, Dean would ultimately possess the lead heading into the locker room by a score of 44-38.
-Motley and Yeates would get scores to open the second half, eventually setting up a strong open by the Bulldogs. Dean would go on a 8-2 run through the first three minutes, advancing the score to 52-40. However, Fisher clawed right back, securing points from Allen Lattimore and Anthony Saunders.
-Fisher would remain in striking distance throughout the middle hash of the half, with Dean only seeing a lead as high as eight points.
-With three minutes to-go, the Falcons would make their move. Their strike opened with a three-pointer by Douglas, followed by scores from both Saunders and Daniels. This made it a one point game with two minutes remaining.
-Dean responded with a drawn foul and two key free throws from Motley. The junior guard would be the checkmate piece in the final seconds for the Bulldogs momentarily.
-Dean led 84-81 with 30 seconds remaining, but it didn't stop Lattimore. the guard drilled a three-pointer from longe range, tying the game at 84.
-However, just as he's done all year, Motley came in clutch from the field. He found his one-on-one coverage inside, eventually stepping to secure the basket and lead at 86-84. Fisher would miss their final attempt to tie, giving Dean the victory.
