Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Survives in Final Minutes for Road Victory Over Nor'easters, 80-75

Biddeford, ME- The Dean College Men's Basketball team took down the University of New England on Tuesday night by a final score of 80-75. The Bulldogs, hanging onto a close lead in the second half, now improve to 4-2 on the season, while the Nor'easters drop to 3-4 overall.

How it Happened:
-The Bulldogs would jump to an early lead in the opening minutes, leading by four points. Atlanta, Georgia natives Christian Yeates and Xavier Boyd would get the scoring started. Naser Motley (Everett, WA) would also drain a successful three-pointer.
-However, after a quick rally by UNE, they would tie the game back at 13 points scored. This included a three-pointer from Adam Lux.
-Dean would pull away once again towards the latter portion of the frame. Both Yeates and Randy Vasquez (Methuen, MA) would score in the paint, and first-year Max Shosa (Manchester, NH) would get back to his three-pointer ways. After another layup by Xavier Rubio (San Diego, CA), who saw his most action this season, the Bulldogs lead the Nor'easters 40-31 at the half.
-Dean continued to produce offensively in the opening minutes of the second. They would see successful buckets from the trio of Yeates, Vasquez, and Shosa. This would give them a lead of seven.
-Dean would see its largest lead six minutes into the half, stretching it to 14 points.
-However, things got interesting in the final ten minutes of regulation. UNE would slowly chip away at the deficit, getting as close as three points with 3:30 left on the clock. They had nearly erased the hole they had dug into towards the beginning of the game.
-With their backs against the wall, the Bulldogs pulled through. They would force the Nor'easters into foul trouble, allowing both Yeates and Motley to seal the victory with free-throws. Dean would win the ballgame by a final score of 80-75.

Standouts:
-Yeates (18 Points, Assist, 8 Rebounds, 2 Steals)
-Vasquez DOUBLE-DOUBLE (14 Points, 10 Rebounds, Block)
-Boyd (14 Points, 3 Assists, Rebound, Steal)
