Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Swept in Gene DeLorenzo Tip-Off Classic

Waterville, ME- The Dean College Women's Basketball team participated in the Gene DeLorenzo Tip-Off Classic this past weekend at Colby College. However, the team was defeated in both games, losing to Colby 47-103 and Thomas College 55-91. With the pair of losses, Dean drops to 1-4 to open the year.\

Game 1: Colby College 103, Dean College 47:
-While the Bulldogs fell to Colby in their first game of the weekend, they still had plenty of bright spots amongst the roster. Azaria Landry (Lacey, WA) led the team in scoring. She posted 15 points in the ballgame, along with an assist and three rebounds. 
-Senior Abigail Lacy (Arroyo Grande, CA) finished second in scoring, posting 13 points with a board. 
-Kendrah Doane (New Salem, MA) led the team in total rebounds, posting seven in the game (five defensive).
-The Bulldogs shot over 70 percent from the field in the second quarter and nearly 60 percent through the entire game.

Game 2: Thomas College 91, Dean College 55:
-The Bulldogs bounced back in game two, scoring 55 points against the Thomas Terriers. However, they ultimately were defeated by the final score of 55-91.
-First-year Natalie Kerstein (Middleboro, MA) had a strong second game, scoring 14 points with an assist, block, two rebounds, and two steals.
-Lacy finished second in team scoring one again. She would produce 12 points, along with an assist and seven boards.
-Both Lacy and Jordan Ellis (Bridgeport, CT) would led the team in rebounds, scoring seven each. Alana Zirlis (Clinton, CT) would post five in the game.
-Dean would score 17 points in the second quarter and 18 in the third. These would be their highest-scoring quarters of the tournament.
