Franklin, MA- The Dean College Men's Basketball team picked up their second victory of the season on Wednesday, defeating Mitchell College 85-72 inside Pieri Gymnasium. The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 while the Mariners fell to 0-2.
How it Happened:
-Both teams traded shots throughout the first half, finding themselves within four points of each other throughout the first eighteen minutes of action. A buzzer beater three-point shot from senior Christian Yeates (Atlanta, GA) created separation for the Bulldogs, who entered the half up 42-35. Yeates finished as Dean's leading scorer, with 26 points and shooting four-for-seven from beyond the arch.
-Dean held control of their lead throughout the entire second half, including a handful of pace-setting buckets keeping them in control. Junior Naser Motley (Everett, WA) was the Bulldogs' second half leading scorer, putting up 18 points the exclamation-mark dunk with two minutes to play to seal the win.
-Motley finished the night with 21 total points. Seniors Randy Vasquez (Methuen, MA) and Xavier Boyd (Loganville, GA) each added 13 points of their own to the Bulldogs' 85 point total.
-Dean finished the night with 49.2% field goal percentage, scoring on 32 out of 65 opportunities. The Bulldogs also posted a 66.7% mark from the three-point line, shooting 8 of 12.
-Dean's 22 bench point tied Mitchell's mark of 22 off the bench, in a contest that featured nine lead changes and five ties.
