Franklin, MA- The Dean College Women's Volleyball was taken down by conference foe Regis College on Tuesday night inside Pieri Gymnasium. With the loss, Dean now falls to 1-10 (0-5 GNAC) on the season, while the Pride improve to 12-7 (6-0 GNAC).
How it Happened:
-While Regis scored the first point of the match, it would be the Bulldogs gaining the early momentum. First-year
Ali Murphy (Middleboro, MA) dunked a misplaced ball by Regis, starting the Dean rally. After strong serves from senior
Skylar Raskevitz (Easthampton, MA), Dean would then force three straight errors by Regis.
-The first set's lead would go back and forth from both sides. Dean managed to hold-on for a vast majority of the match, forcing errors and maintaining a strong presence at the front of the net. However, with Dean up 16-13, Regis would strike for an eight-point rally, eventually taking the 21-16 lead.
-Dean would climb back to cut the lead to three, including a kill by
Maddy Seymour (Simsbury, CT). However, Regis would fight back and finish with the first set win by a score of 25-18.
-Set two would be a dominating effort by Regis, sweeping the floor 25-6. Seymour recorded three kills in the set, followed by a kill from
Caitlin Cooper (Amherst, NH).
-The Bulldogs would find some strength in the final set. Dean forced eight different errors by Regis, including several attack errors at the front of the net. Seymour and first-year
Mia Cote (Hopedale, MA) would also record kills in the set. However, Regis maintained firm control of the match. They took set three 25-10 and the match 3-0.
