Franklin, MA- The Dean College Women's Volleyball team was defeated in four sets by Albertus Magnus College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. With the loss, Dean drops to 2-16 (0-10 GNAC), while the Falcons improve to 14-12 (5-6 GNAC).
How it Happened:
-The opening set would set the tone for the rest of the match. The lead changed a total of five times, with both sides refusing to surrender. The Bulldogs opened the set trailing, but quickly fought back. Sophomore
Maddy Seymour (Simsbury, CT) would score the team's first kill, followed a kill from
Caitlin Cooper (Amherst, NH).
-After trailing Albertus 9-12, Dean would fight to secure their first lead of the set. Four straight points, including points from Seymour and
Carly Rettberg (Haddam, CT) would lift them to the advantage.
-The Bulldogs would score eight of the set's final 12 points to take the first bout. Seymour, Cooper, and
Mia Cote (Hopedale, MA) would have kills in that span. Dean now led 1-0 in the match.
-However, Albertus would storm back to take the final three sets of the match. Set scores included 25-16, 25-20, and 25-20 again.
-Major contributors for Dean in the three-set span included Seymour (a pair of kills) and Cote (Seven kills in three sets). Senior
Skylar Raskevitz (Easthampton, MA) also finished the match with 19 DIGs, her third-highest total of the season.
