Henniker, NH- The Dean College Women's Volleyball team was defeated on the road by New England College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play by a score of 0-3. With the loss, the Bulldogs drop to 2-14 (0-8 GNAC), while the Pilgrims advance to 7-13 (4-3 GNAC).
How it Happened:
-Dean would open the first set with the slight advance, taking the 3-2 lead. Sophomore
Maddy Seymour would record the kill, followed by two attack errors by the Pilgrims. This would set the tone for much of the set, as both sides would exchange the lead. In fact, Dean held a 12-11 lead again after kills from
Caitlin Cooper (Amherst, NH) and two others.
-However, NEC would go on a run, scoring eight of the next ten points. The Pilgrims would eventually secure the first set by a score of 25-17.
-In the second set, Dean would draw first blood from another Cooper kill. After NEC secured their initial point, the set would nearly mimic the first set. Dean would grab a small ead after
Mia Cote (Hopedale, MA) secured two service aces.
-The Pilgrims would secure set two after clawing back and gathering points in bunches. Multiple Dean errors at the net also secured the 2-0 lead.
-Dean would have the lead in the middle of set three. Seymour and
Valeria Cabezas (Nevarre, FL) would lead the way, securing a handful of kills. However, the 'Grims would then score ten of the final twelve points to take set three by a score of 25-18. NEC would win the match bvy the 3-0 score.
