FRANKLIN, Mass.- With thirty seconds left in the third quarter, Dean College senior
Alexandria Paquet (Santa Maria, Calif.) hit a three pointer to cut the gap to 24 (69-45). The Bulldogs would go on to score the next 17 points on a 20-0 run that turned a 27 point hole into a seven point deficit, but Dean could get no closer, eventually falling to the Albertus Magnus Falcons 89-77 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Tuesday at Pieri Gymnasium.
The Falcons took a 19-11 lead after the first quarter. The visitors expanded their lead to 44-28 at the halftime break, shooting 55% in the second quarter to increase their advantage. The Falcons outsored Dean 25-17 in the third, an identical margin to their lead in the second quarter. The Bulldogs fought back in the final frame, ripping off the massive run to start the period and threatening down the stretch, but timely shooting from the Falcons clinched the game.Â
Paquet led the Bulldogs with her sixth double-double of the season, and second straight, scoring 22 points while allowing 11 rebounds. Sophomore
Azaria Landry (Fort Gregg-Adams, Va.) scored 19 points on 7-18 shooting, while adding nine rebounds. Senior
Tori Viau (Johnston, R.I.) went 5-10 from the field and scored 13 points, her ninth game this season in double figures.
Abi Boutin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) scored ten points, while
Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.) had eight points and six boards.
Dean is back in action on Thursday when they host Wellesley College in non-league action at 2 p.m.
