FRANKLIN, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs women's basketball squad dropped a non-conference matchup to Wellesley College 70-40 on Thursday afternoon at Pieri Gymnasium. The loss drops Dean to 5-8 on the year, while Wellesley improves to 5-8.
Sophomore guard
Azaria Landry (Fort Gregg-Adams, Va.) opened the scoring with a three pointer, but Wellesley followed with an 11-0 run to immediately grab control of the game. The visitors cruised to an 18-6 lead in the first quarter after the Bulldogs shot just 12% in the frame.
The second quarter was tighter, with the Blue maintaining an 11-10 edge in the period to go into halftime up 13, 29-16. The visitors out-rebounded Dean 14-3 during the second quarter to help extend their lead.
Wellesley pushed the lead further in the third, outscoring Dean 18-13 to extend the advantage over twenty points and put the game out of reach. The Blue shot 53% in the fourth quarter, extending their lead to 30 and closing out the game there, with their largest lead of the day.
Senior
Alexandria Paquet (Santa Maria, Calif.) and sophomore
Abi Boutin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) both scored 12 points. Paquet had a team-high eight boards while Boutin topped all individuals with six assists. Landry pitched in seven points.
Dean is back in action on Saturday when they host Elms in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at 3:00 p.m.
