Franklin, MA.- The Anna Maria Amcats came into Pieri Gymnasium with hot hands, as they shot 43.2%, including 14 3-pointers, as they defeated the Dean College Bulldogs, 87-54, Wednesday night. Dean now moves to 5-14 (0-7) while Anna Maria moves to 10-9 (5-3).
Turnovers cost the Bulldogs, as the gave the ball away 21 times throughout the evening. Anna Maria led 13-12 after the 1
st quarter, but the Amcats pulled away, capped by a 25-0 run in the 2
nd quarter. Anna Maria had 4 players in double figures: Marinique Reddin led the with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists, Arianna Gonzalez was 1 rebound shy of a double-double as she had 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.
The game, however, proved to be special for senior
Alexandria Paquet (Santa Maria, CA). Her first basket, a 3-pointer 1:59 into the contest, was the 1,000th point in her career. She now becomes just the third player in Dean College women's basketball history to reach the 1,000-point club, and the first player since 2020 to do such (Makayla Rudder).
Azaria Landry (Petersburg, VA) led the Bulldogs with 19 points, while Paquet had 11 points, and 8 rebounds.
Kendrah Doane (New Salem, MA) finished the night with nine total points, while connecting on four from her nine attempts from the field.
The Bulldogs return to action when they head to Boston to face Emmanuel at 3PM. Dean returns home when the host Mitchell on February 12
th.
