Albany, NY.- The Dean College men's volleyball team fell in their mid-week match versus Russell Sage College, 3-1 in Albany, New York. Dean now falls to 0-4 on the year, while Russell Sage advances to 1-8.
The Bulldogs came out swinging in the first set, winning by a score of 25-22. Joey Medeiros (New Bedford, MA) impressed early, opening with a service ace. Meanwhile
Arthur Felicio (Saugus, Brazil) played a crucial role in several of the first set points. However, it was junior
Jerney Price (San Antonio, TX) that would shine in first set and match, leading Dean in kills with eight.
The subsequent three sets for the Bulldogs were close, but ultimately not enough to get them over the hump. Dean lost the final three sets 25-19, 25-18, and a close final set of 25-24.
As mentioned, Price paved the way for Dean with eight total kills on offense. Meanwhile, Felicio finished the night with 22 attack attempts, the most for the Bulldogs in the match.
Ayden Rogers (Tewksbury, MA) finished with 15 attempts, and Price with 14. Libero
Mason Rua (Sao Paulo do Sul, Portugal) led Dean on the defensive side of the match, finishing with eight total digs. Both
Casey Dubois (Dracut, MA) and
Hunter Armitage (Westerly, RI) each had four.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, facing Vermont State University-Johnson in a double header at Pieri Gymnasium. Both matches begin at 11AM and 1PM, respectively.
